The big storm and the Big Freeze - Austin

On Wednesday night a massive storm hit Austin. Jeff and I had gone to see Cheryl Lee Ralph in her one woman show on the issues faced by African American women and AIDS, as part of her plight to bring the issues of AIDS to the public as part of World AIDS day. Afterwards we went for dinner at a Mexican restaurant and on the way home we stopped of for just 'one' drink at the bars. Anyone who knows me knows that I rarely say no to a drink, and that there is never such a thing as 'just one drink', plus it was Karaoke night. At 1am the storm hit. We were outside in the covered courtyard with some guys that we had met and listened to the thunder and watched an amazing lightening show. The wind howled and if we were wearing skirts we would have had them up around our heads. The rain pissed down and the power went out in the outside bar. YES! my bar tab was out there, but Boo Hoo they got the computers rebooted.

By morning it was absolutely freezing. I had a hangover so spent as much time in bed with my water beside my bed. By nightfall the temperature was down to 29 degrees F (about -2 degrees C). The cold didn't stop Alan and myself from going out. He came and picked me up from Jeff's and it was a great night, again I met new people and had a great time.
