Rio - Day 1

After leaving the airport and making the bus trip into Copacabana, all of us are dead tired and decide that none of us could be bothered with going out. I am exhausted after my extended stay over in the arrivals hall of the airport. We woke to a semi overcast day, but after traveling so far I am determined to get some beach time in. Down on the sand we had miles of almost empty beach. It was obvious that it wasn't high season. Andy and I lay there chatting and buying beers off the merchants walking up and down the sand, and Kate was off doing what she does best...shopping. Every woman on the beach, no matter the size of her, was wearing a G'string bikini. I have never seen so many of them. They were everywhere. After beach time Andy and I sat in a street side bar and continued our drinking until Kate had finished checking out the local stores. Our first day was picture perfect, who could have foreseen the night that was before us.
