Trip to Times Square & Central Park
Kevin had to work, so I grabbed a map and headed into Times Square and then onto Central Park. Times Square was a mad house. I remember it being busy last time I was here, July 05, but this time I was navigating on my own. I felt clostiphobic and a need to get out of there. At one stage I swear my feet weren't touching the ground and I was still moving with the crowd. I also cant tell you how many times I was nearly run over by drivers ignoring the fact that pedestrians witht he walk lights had the right of way.
Along the way to Central Park I was stopped and asked if I knew of a good Japannese Restaurant in the area. I replied with 'Sorry Im not from here'. He then asked if I was English and I said 'no Im Australian'. With what seemed like total horror in the tone of his voice he replied 'Iranian!'. I slow replied 'Aus_stra_lian' then turned my back and walked away before I faced a firing squad. For the first time I thought that my accent could get me ito trouble, but not only that, it was the realisation of the some Americans attitude or fear to what they really know nothing about.
I got to the Park and saw Trump Tower, big deal, and then headed back to Kevins place via Times Square again. Kevin lives on West 44th Street so I went a couple of blocks further down and turned onto West 40th Street. It was dirty, lined iwth Adult Stores and I swear to good the guy lying on the pacement was dead. I tend to be a slow walker, but I swear there was smoke coming off my heald I was going that fast.
